At VAS Hanoi prides itself on the quality of the English based programs delivered to students from Year 1 to Year 12.

These programs are taught by well qualified, native speakers of English, whose motivation is to provide VAS Hanoi students with a quality program that develops each of the key skills needed to communicate successfully in English: speaking, listening, reading and writing. The ultimate goal of all teachers is to prepare VAS Hanoi students for successful entry into universities, in both English speaking countries and Vietnam. The International Program is taught concurrently with the Vietnamese National Curriculum.

As a Registered Cambridge School, VAS Hanoi began teaching the Cambridge Secondary 1program, an internationally recognized Junior Secondary course, from the beginning of the 2013/14 school year. Subjects included in Cambridge Secondary 1 are English, Mathematics and Science. Cambridge Secondary 1 will be phased in, with each year group commencing study in one or more subjects until all three subjects are being taught to each of Years 7,8 and 9.

The International Program for Years 6-9 in 2014/15 is as follows:

  - Year 6: English and Science

  - Year 7: English, Mathematics and Science

  - Year 8: English, Mathematics and Science

  - Year 9: English and Mathematics

By providing tuition in English, in key subjects, taught by native English speakers, VAS Hanoi students have access to rigorous, relevant and stimulating programs, which are regularly evaluated and improved, and are used in over 100 countries. Secondary students participate in the annual, internationally recognized Cambridge KET and PET English tests, which are a progression from the tests done in the VAS Hanoi Primary School-Starters, Movers, Flyers. Thus, all students are regularly evaluated against international standards

The International Program for Years 10-12 in 2014-2015 is as follows:

  - Year 10: IELTS Preparation and Business Studies

  - Year 11: IELTS Preparation and Business Studies

  - Year 12: IELTS preparation and Business Studies

During the High School year, VAS Hanoi students study an Academic English pathway, named International English Language Testing System (IELTS).

The Academic IELTS Preparation Course is delivered to students inYears 10 - 12 and aims to introduce the academic language required for achieving 6.5 or above band scores, which are a prerequisite for many international universities.

Students further develop their academic skills in reading, writing, listening and speaking, skills needed to succeed at an English speaking university. Students also gain the confidence to interact in social situations by using a communicative style of learning that encourages the use of contemporary English where a learner - centered approach is used to assess language needs and personal goals.

At VAS Hanoi, our aim is for the students to attain the band scores below:

  - Year 10: IELTS Band score 4.0 -5.0

  - Year 11: IELTS Band score 5.0 - 6.5

  - Year 12: IELTS Band score 6.5 - 7

The Business Studies course is aligned to the Cambridge IGCSE Business Studies course. As many of our students hope to enter the world of business, this Business Studies course gives them both practical and theoretical knowledge which will be of use for their future careers

The aims are achieved by presenting a range of business situations in the form of case studies, role plays and discussions which familiarise students with issues they may encounter in business organisations; providing students with the opportunity to develop effective communication skills by practising writing business communication such as letters, e-mail and short reports and by focusing on language functions and structures, which are particularly useful in business .
