With the theme “VAS Hanoi Heritage,” the Kick-off Week not only celebrated the values that have been nurtured over nearly two decades, but also encouraged students to become the next generation of learners who carry these values forward and contribute to shaping the future. From discovering the school’s culture and connecting with different generations of the VAS community to participating in learning experiences and skill-building activities, every VASer was encouraged to reflect on the values they have inherited and think about how they can leave their own mark on the journey ahead.

One of the key focuses of Kick-off Week was to help students gain a deeper understanding of VAS Hanoi’s history, culture, and distinctive values. Through activities exploring the school and its development, students had the opportunity to learn about important milestones in VAS Hanoi’s history, the generations of teachers who have contributed to the school community, and the achievements built through the efforts of generations of students.

For students who have recently joined VAS Hanoi, becoming familiar with the school’s culture and learning environment from the very beginning provides an important foundation for settling in, building positive relationships, and developing a stronger sense of belonging to the community where they will learn and grow in the years ahead.

Alongside academic activities, Kick-off Week offered a variety of shared experiences that gave VASers opportunities to meet, collaborate, and connect with one another.

Through these activities, students across different classes, grades, and school levels had more opportunities to interact, share ideas, and work together toward common goals. Beyond creating an energetic atmosphere at the beginning of the school year, these experiences also helped students develop essential skills such as communication, teamwork, problem-solving, and adaptability.

At VAS Hanoi, connection goes beyond bringing students together as a large community. It means building an environment where every student feels heard, respected, valued, and empowered to play an active role in the life of the school.

This sense of belonging also provides a strong foundation for students to approach the new school year with greater confidence, ready to embrace both its challenges and opportunities.

From the very beginning of the school year, VASers were encouraged to ask themselves: What do I want to achieve this year? What would I like to explore or challenge myself in? What skills do I need to develop further? And what kind of person do I want to become by the end of the school year?

These questions may not have immediate answers. However, taking the time to reflect on them is an important first step in helping students move beyond simply “taking part in a school year” and begin to actively shape their own learning and personal growth journey.

The 2026–2027 school year holds special significance as VAS Hanoi moves closer to its 20th anniversary. Nearly two decades is long enough for a school to build its own identity and values, while also marking the beginning of a new chapter and new possibilities for the future.

Kick-off Week may have come to an end, but the journey has only just begun.

Ahead of VASers lies a school year filled with new lessons, new challenges, opportunities to discover themselves, and milestones to remember. Guided by the spirit of “Create Your Journey,” VAS Hanoi hopes that every student will do more than simply experience the 2026-2027 school year. We hope they will truly create a journey of their own grounded in the values passed down through generations, shaped by the choices they make today, and inspired by their aspirations for the future.
