Vietnam-Australia School, Hanoi (VAS Hanoi) is a bilingual school that offers a dual program of both the Vietnamese National Curriculum, as well as Cambridge Checkpoint Primary, Cambridge Checkpoint Lower Secondary and selected Cambridge IGCSE subjects.

About the Job

We are looking for a motivated, enthusiastic, passionate and fully qualified teacher for our Humanities related subjects. The position includes teaching Society & Culture (Australian Curriculum), Cambridge Global Perspectives, and some ESL classes (Cambridge curriculum) across Lower Secondary and High School.

Our program follows both the Cambridge Pathway and elements of the Australian Curriculum, so applicants should have relevant experience teaching international curricula. Preference will be given to candidates with experience in Key Stage 3–4 and/or senior secondary levels.

We are looking for candidates who have a passion for teaching, are suitably qualified, and committed to creating an inclusive, engaging and positive learning environment.

Applicants should preferably hold a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology, Social Science, History, Human Geography, Cultural Studies, or another related field, together with a relevant teaching qualification.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Planning, preparing and teaching lessons in line with the Cambridge International Curriculum Framework and Australian Curriculum requirements.
  • Creating and implementing subject-specific Schemes of Work.
  • Differentiating class activities, tasks and lesson materials to meet the varied needs of learners.
  • Applying a range of teaching techniques (including interactive methods and game-based activities) to encourage participation and facilitate learning.
  • Developing a positive, inclusive and active classroom atmosphere with fair and clear standards and expectations.
  • Devising and conducting regular formative and summative assessments in line with the school calendar.
  • Providing clear and consistent student feedback.
  • Building collaborative and communicative relationships with coworkers, homeroom teachers and parents to ensure all students are supported.
  • Conferring with teachers, parents or guardians to discuss student progress and address behavioural or academic concerns.
  • Attending meetings and school events.
  • Supporting extracurricular activities and school festivals when required.
  • Fulfilling general professional and administrative duties.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Native-level English speaker
  • A subject-specific Bachelor’s degree (Sociology, Social Science, History, Human Geography, Cultural Studies, or related field)
  • A professional teaching qualification (Teaching License / PGCE with QTS, or a Bachelor of Education in a relevant subject)
  • Minimum of 2 years’ professional teaching experience
  • Experience teaching international curricula (Cambridge and/or Australian preferred)
  • Knowledge and experience teaching English as a Second Language (ESL) learners
