VASATHON 2026 is not merely an academic competition, but a unique “race”:

• The “track” does not lie beneath the feet, but unfolds within the mind
• “Speed” is measured by the sharpness of knowledge
• The “finish line” is defined by strong team spirit

What makes VASATHON truly distinctive is its challenge-based station format, where teams must continuously adapt, collaborate, and apply interdisciplinary knowledge to “unlock” questions of varying difficulty levels.

Some questions serve as gentle “warm-ups,” helping teams quickly get into the rhythm of the competition. Yet, they are soon followed by more demanding challenges that require deep thinking, quick analysis, and absolute accuracy.

From English, Literature, and Mathematics to Physics, Chemistry, History, and even National Defense education—each station represents a unique piece of the knowledge puzzle. Team members must connect, support one another, and leverage their individual strengths to move forward.

It is this powerful intellectual synergy that becomes the key for VASers to overcome each round. There are moments of lively debate to reach the correct answer, and moments of seamless coordination where just a glance is enough to understand teammates. All of these create a journey that is not only intense but also deeply emotional and memorable.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Minh Giang – Vice Principal of VAS Hanoi Secondary & High School, shared a meaningful message with the contestants before the competition: “Don’t focus solely on the finish line—enjoy every moment of the experience along the way. Compete with confidence and determination, while always upholding the spirit of unity and fair play.”

In reality, the teams truly embodied this spirit throughout their journey. Winning or losing was not the most important outcome; what truly mattered was standing side by side, overcoming challenges together with confidence and a strong sense of pride in themselves and their teammates.

The code of the first season has officially been “decoded”: ILLUMINATE. This message affirms that every VASer has truly shone through their own abilities, courage, and relentless drive to grow. There is no single mold for excellence—each student is encouraged to embrace their uniqueness and shine in their own way.

One of the highlights of VASATHON 2026 was the official unveiling of the competition flag.

The name “VASATHON” combines “VAS” (Vietnam–Australia School, Hanoi) and “ATHON” (from “Marathon”), symbolizing a race of endurance, challenge, strategy, and teamwork.

More than just a symbol, the flag carries three core values that define the spirit of the competition:

• Unite — Stronger Together: The integration of different subjects and programs creates a sustainable collective strength
• Shine — Shine Your Own Way: Each individual is empowered to express their intelligence and unique identity
• Rise — Reach New Heights: Everyone strives toward greater achievements with strength and resilience

This flag represents minds that never stop exploring, hearts that are always driven by passion, and the powerful connection across disciplines—all united in a shared spirit of collaboration and conquest.

Behind the success of VASATHON is the dedication of the Organizing Committee and teachers, who have worked tirelessly for months to transform initial ideas into a well-structured, creative, and meaningful academic playground.
