The 2024–2025 Academic Year: A Transformative Journey for the Teaching Staff at VAS Hanoi

28/05/2025

The 2024–2025 school year has officially concluded with numerous remarkable achievements at the Vietnam–Australia School, Hanoi (VAS Hanoi). From Primary to Secondary levels, students’ learning journeys have been marked not only by outstanding academic results but also by significant strides in educational thinking, innovative teaching methods, and the dedicated guidance of the school’s teaching staff.

2024–2025: A Year of Holistic Student Development
In Primary School, students demonstrated clear progress in logical thinking, collaboration, and proactive learning through interdisciplinary projects, experiential activities, creative tasks, and highly applicable learning products.
At the Secondary level, students distinguished themselves through international examinations, academic forums, social initiatives, and scientific research. These experiences helped cultivate independent thinking, global awareness, and compassion—core qualities of 21st-century global citizens.
VAS Hanoi’s educational philosophy does not focus solely on isolated achievements but emphasizes the comprehensive development process, where students are encouraged to explore themselves, expand their awareness, and develop authentic competencies.

Teachers: The Solid Foundation of Educational Excellence
Behind every student’s success is a team of teachers committed to innovation and creativity in each lesson. Over the past year, the integration of technology and active learning methods has significantly transformed how students engage with knowledge.

A notable highlight in pedagogical reform was the broad implementation of experiential and real-world learning activities. From learning History and Literature through field trips, and exploring Science through inquiry and investigation, to wrapping up courses with projects, presentations, or reflections instead of traditional exams—these changes have enhanced students’ presentation skills, systems thinking, and fostered independent learning and teamwork, all of which are essential in the modern world.

The Cambridge International Programme at VAS Hanoi has been implemented systematically, creatively, and flexibly. The effective use of technology—from computer labs to tablets—has opened new opportunities for personalized learning. Students are empowered to choose the pace, method, and format that best align with their abilities and interests, thereby developing digital literacy, critical thinking, and independent learning—key competencies for global citizens.

In addition, Cambridge subjects such as Global Perspectives, Business, and Enterprise are designed with a project-based approach, linking knowledge to real-life contexts, helping students shape their career paths and build global citizenship skills.
VAS Hanoi continues to expand the use of technology in teaching and learning. The English Department—the core of the international programme—has developed an in-depth system for regular and periodic student assessment while also establishing effective communication bridges between school and families through platforms like Seesaw (Primary) and Google Classroom (Secondary). This direct, ongoing connection enables parents to closely follow their child’s learning journey and contributes to building a connected, responsible educational community.

The close and effective collaboration between Vietnamese and international teachers continues to be one of the school’s defining strengths. In the 2024–2025 academic year, the school proudly recognized the outstanding contributions of Mr. Cameron Doherty (Secondary Division)—who consistently maintained excellent professional standards and led with great responsibility, and Mr. Christopher St. Onge (Primary Division)—a key figure in building a Cambridge-aligned learning tracking system and fostering a deep, humanistic learning spirit among students.

Although another school year has officially concluded, the educational journey at VAS Hanoi continues, fueled by ongoing dedication and effort. The success of the 2024–2025 academic year is measured not only by academic achievements, but also by students’ growth in mindset, character, and competencies; by deep innovations in teaching methodology and technology integration; and by the professionalism, commitment, and heartfelt dedication of the school’s entire staff.

We firmly believe that, with faith in the value of authentic education and the continued partnership of parents, students, teachers, and the wider community, the journey of shaping the future at VAS Hanoi will continue to be written with new, sustainable, and inspiring successes—driven by trust and a shared aspiration to nurture a fully developed future generation.
