For Grade 6 and Grade 10 students, the “Decoding Your Mind” activity turned the classroom into a special “laboratory” of the brain. Guided by our School Psychology team, students explored six key “modules” of mental capability: Emotion – Focus – Memory – Reasoning – Coordination – Perception.
Through interactive games and mindfulness exercises, they learned to observe themselves, recognize emotions, and “program” calmness and confidence for future challenges.
“I realized I often lose focus when working in groups. After today’s session, I’ve learned a few ways to stay more focused, like breaking down goals and jotting down ideas immediately when they come to mind,” shared Nguyen Chau An (6V1).
In Grades 4 and 5, the “Creating with AI” workshop offered a friendly, exciting gateway to technology. With the support of Ms. Pham Thi Thuy Van and high school mentors, our young “coders” tried Canva AI for the first time to design interactive event invitations.
The results were not only visually appealing but also “alive” – recipients could respond directly through the interactive feature.
“The kids were so smart and enthusiastic, eager to work hands-on with the software and create designs based entirely on their own ideas. The high school mentors’ guidance added great value, and the students loved the interaction. It was such a heartwarming connection within the classroom,” shared Ms. Van.
This activity not only sparked imagination but also helped students see how technology can be applied to everyday life.
The highlight of Kick-Off Week was the mini “Coding Yourself” Exhibition, where each class, from Primary to Secondary, set up its own display space to tell the story of the new school year in the most creative way.
In Primary, vibrant paintings, positive messages, and pure dreams took center stage. In Secondary, the displays reflected more personal colors: challenges to conquer, passions to pursue, and goals to push beyond limits. Class 12V2 impressed the judges with their creative concept, confident presentation, and striking decoration, earning the Best Exhibit Award.
“Through Kick-Off Week, I was truly impressed by how creativity shone through every exhibit. The students not only brought unique ideas to life, but also set clear academic goals and showed strong determination to achieve them. What delighted me most was their excitement, initiative, and confidence in sharing their class stories. These are exactly the qualities we aim to inspire and nurture at VAS Hanoi,” shared Ms. Candice, Primary International Program Manager and member of the mini exhibition judging panel.
VAS Hanoi’s Kick-Off Week showed that the first days of the school year can be more than just “getting to know each other” or “settling into routines.” They can be precious moments for teachers and students to explore, connect, inspire, and lay the mental foundation for the months ahead.
The 2025–2026 school year has only just begun, but the “Coding Yourself” spirit has already been activated. From the very first lines of code in Kick-Off Week, each VASer will keep writing their own journey of learning and growth – a journey full of color, creativity, and unstoppable breakthroughs.
