The Calligraphy Ceremony at the beginning of the Spring is a beautiful cultural tradition, reflecting the Vietnamese spirit of learning and the thirst for knowledge. It is not only an opportunity to begin a new year with determination but also a moment to express good wishes through each stroke of the pen. Every year, the entire VAS Hanoi family eagerly awaits the return to school after the Tết holiday to start the new year with the Calligraphy Ceremony – an event that has become a cultural beauty of VAS Hanoi. It is a meaningful space where students, teachers, and parents come together to begin their journey of knowledge with abundant inspiration.
Each stroke of the pen written on red paper carries a deep sense of belief and the culmination of aspirations, passions, and the desire to achieve success and prosperity on the academic journey. Students express their hopes for outstanding academic achievements and success in exams, while teachers convey their wishes for a year filled with energy, knowledge, and creativity. In addition, wishes for wealth, health, peace, and happiness are also reflected in each word and every graceful stroke of the pen, much like a scholar showcasing their skill with the brush to create the "spring flourish."
Especially, after many years of being part of VAS Hanoi, our foreign teachers have immersed themselves in the flow of Vietnamese culture. They not only learn about but also deeply appreciate the tradition of the Calligraphy Ceremony at the beginning of spring, taking the time to write meaningful Vietnamese characters with their own hands. Each stroke of the pen is a wish, a belief in good fortune, peace, and success in the new year. This is a beautiful fusion of modern educational excellence and traditional cultural identity.
Teachers, VASers, and parents have come together to perform the Calligraphy Ceremony, writing down beautiful wishes and looking forward to a bright 2025 filled with knowledge, inspiration, and steadfast determination!
