In order to help parents understand how children learn and the innovative teaching methods of teachers in the Cambridge international program, VAS Hanoi organised the Workshop "We are VASers - Inside a Global Classroom" for parents to experience the international learning environment of grade 1 and 2 through Math, Science, and English subjects. The "trial session” is prepared and taught by experienced teachers, bringing many unforgettable experiences to parents.

Amazed at the way international teachers deliver lessons

"I really like the way the lesson was led and the teacher's attitude. She is very enthusiastic and cheerful, the class was very exciting.” - Ms. Bui Thi Mo, mother of a grade 2 student.

"I like the way Mr. Chris teaches, very practical and interesting. If your children learn and interact regularly with such teachers, they will surely love both the subject and the teacher. The experience was truly amazing.” - Mr. Mai Viet Phuong, father of a grade 2 student.

Those are some of the parents' thoughts right after participating in the classes of international teachers at VAS Hanoi. Teachers used vivid visual aids and showed lesson content through videos and pictures so that "students" can visualise each part of the lesson. Parents were directly involved in the activities given in the lesson such as: recognizing and naming body parts, and creating 3D shapes from given materials...

Maintaining constant interaction with questions, games, word puzzles, and so on helps students retain attention and memorise more effectively. Not only teacher-student interaction, but the Workshop also helps parents understand the ways grader 1 and 2 students exchange, discuss, and work in groups in classrooms.

"Our teaching method continuously creates curiosity for students through questions and quizzes, so that students can actively grasp the lesson,” said Ms. Candice - Manager of the Primary Cambridge Program, with nearly 10 years of experience in teaching Cambridge Primary.

High applicability of Cambridge subjects

The Mathematics program in the Cambridge Primary program has 3 main contents: Arithmetic, Geometry and Measurement, Statistics and Probability. Students learn about principles, rules, methods, etc to help develop logical thinking. Parents were introduced to this through practice activities. Teachers offered sticks and clay and instructed them to create the 3D shapes, thereby identifying names and characteristics and how to apply them to daily life. Parents can practice with their children at home. Learning and playing are the ways to connect with family members.

"My child is in grade 1, and I am quite worried about him learning maths and studying in English. However, after participating in this Workshop, I found everything easier. I understand why my child loves going to school.” Said Ms. Pham Thi Hong Nhung, mother of a grade 1 student.

During the Cambridge Primary Science trial class, parents were introduced to the parts of trees in English and practised recognizing and labelling them. Practising right after the lesson makes remembering easier. The classes became vibrant and not boring, which is the goal that international teachers want to achieve in every lesson.

Science is one of the subjects that are very familiar to VAS Hanoi students. The classes are very lively, students enthusiastically speak and interact regularly with teachers. Students are nurtured with a passion for scientific study, and develop teamwork and information-searching skills at once. Science is a subject that helps students build a foundation to study other subjects in the Cambridge program at a higher level.

Feeling rest assured with the study program at VAS Hanoi

For each subject, teachers often exploit the lessons, so that students can actively learn and have easier access to new knowledge and vocabulary making students the center of the lesson.

In addition to the basic curriculum of the Cambridge program, students are also guided in using supporting software such as Seesaw, Mathletics, and Reading Eggs as well as methods of finding other supplementary learning resources suitable for their needs. VAS Hanoi is the pioneer school to bring the Cambridge program into the curriculum.

VAS Hanoi is a pioneer school to introduce the Cambridge program right from the primary. The school deploys two curriculums concurrently: the Cambridge Primary program and the ESL program. In addition, students will participate in Piano, Flute, Creative Arts, Dance, Football clubs, etc that develop comprehensively in terms of both physical and mental.
