"We Were Once Like You" – An Inspirational Sharing Session from Grade 12 VASers

01/01/1970

Recently, outstanding Grade 12 students at VAS Hanoi hosted a special talk with their younger schoolmates. Without rigid theories or formal lectures, the session became a space where real stories, genuine experiences, and heartfelt emotions were shared like precious gifts before the season of farewell.

Student life is not only written through textbooks but also shaped by choices, challenges, setbacks, and personal growth. At VAS Hanoi, this journey becomes even more meaningful when it is passed on through sincere sharing – from those who came before to those who are still growing day by day within the school.

"We were once those confused and hesitant sixth and seventh graders too. Today, we don’t just want to share our achievements – we want to pass on our belief that everyone can shine in their own unique way."
Trần Khánh Huyền, President of the VAS Hanoi Student Council, opened the session with a touching message.

Huyền emphasized that joining the Student Council is an invaluable opportunity to develop leadership skills, independence in thought and action, and the ability to work effectively in teams:
"Don’t hesitate to apply. The Student Council is a fantastic environment for growth. Be ready to take initiative, show responsibility, and build connections – these skills will take you far, not just in school but in life."

Bùi Trí Dũng, Head Organizer of the student-led arts show Golden Night, offered advice on focus and prioritization:
"Whatever you do, give it 200% of your heart. Don’t stretch yourself too thin – it’s easy to get distracted and lose control of your time. Just one thing, if it's something you love and do well, is enough to leave a mark."

For Nguyễn Hà Vân Khanh – Weekly Champion of Olympia 2023 and Winner of VAS Scholar Competition 2023 – balancing study and play is key:
"I always say: Why choose between studying and playing? When you study, do it wholeheartedly and focus at school. When you play, truly enjoy it. At home, make time to revise and relax. Don’t forget, you deserve to have fun too – that’s how you study better."

Trần Bích Vân – Head of Events for the Student Council and founder of the Manakin Club – highlighted the importance of pursuing one’s passion in school:
"The most wonderful thing is getting to do what you love and turning passion into action. I hope Manakin Club continues to grow as proof that students can build creative, professional arts organizations right here in their own school."

Finally, Trần Duy Anh – the “Scholarship Hunter” who secured over 17 billion VND in scholarships from universities in the US, UK, Australia, and more – addressed some of the questions younger students had about life after high school:
"You might choose university foundation programs or an international high school diploma – what matters most is understanding your goals and career direction. Know who you are, what you want, and what you need. The good news is that you’re not alone – teachers, parents, and older peers are always here to support, guide, and share. Don’t be afraid to speak up. Once you can answer those questions, you’ll be ready to make wise decisions for your future."

Though the sharing session has ended, it marks the beginning of new dreams for the younger students. The connection between generations of VASers – through inspiration, real stories, and sincere belief – will continue to fuel a spirit of discovery, bold dreams, and unwavering growth on each VASer’s personal journey.
