Grade 2 students of VAS Hanoi have just had an engaging and enjoyable day with activities of recycling and researching objects in the natural environment. This activity is part of the Science subject in the Cambridge program.

In the Cambridge program for primary students, science is always the most exciting and awaited subject. Students have access to basic scientific knowledge and learn about things and phenomena around them. Such as why it rains, how plants photosynthesize, the growth and development of plants, fruits, and vegetables, or how the earth-planet-solar systems are, etc. The knowledge in books is realised through practical activities and will become more vivid and intuitive. Since then, students can easily get acquainted and interested in scientific research.

Practicality in the Cambridge program

As part of a series of extra-curricular activities throughout the 2022-2023 school year, Discovery Day held by international teachers help students apply their scientific knowledge and English abilities to solve practical tasks. And then, with teamwork skills and logical thinking, they can solve other problems.

"Students will be very interested in science if they experience knowledge through real life. We always try to create many activities and playgrounds for students to unleash their energy and curiosity. Science is not difficult or arid. Science is in our life,” said Ms. Candice, Manager of the Cambridge Program for Primary School.

New clothes for waste - Recycling lessons from Cambridge Primary

Teachers always direct students to think and have a positive attitude to protect the environment through science lessons. One of them is to recycle used things appropriately. Students and teachers have created unique recycled products from plastic bottles, newspapers, paper cups, etc. It's not too difficult to use a little ingenuity and creativity to make a  jellyfish, a colourful ball from waste, or grow plants in plastic bottles.

Science subject in the Cambridge Primary program helps students develop research skills and nurture a passion for scientific discovery and curiosity. It can improve self-study abilities, too. These will be essential qualities for students to be successful in the future.

VAS Hanoi is a pioneer school to introduce the Cambridge program right from the primary. The school deploys two curriculums concurrently: the Cambridge Primary program and the ESL program. In addition, students will participate in Piano, Flute, Creative Arts, Dance, Football clubs, etc that develop comprehensively in terms of both physical and mental.
