With the spirit of "Smart – S-Math," this year’s festival was designed as a series of “academic stations” – each station posed a mathematical challenge packaged as an interactive game: from decoding the “Mystery Symbols,” calculating with the “Magic Dice,” to quick and accurate movements with “Minute to Win.” What made the activity special was its seamless combination of logical thinking and physical skills, requiring students to think, analyze, and react quickly under time pressure.
“Math becomes more approachable and enjoyable when linked with action. At each station, students had to use not only their minds but also teamwork, quick decision-making skills, and a healthy dose of competition,” shared Ms. Ha Thi Diep Hoa – Head of Grade 1 and a member of the Festival Organizing Committee.
Math Festival 2025 vividly demonstrated the educational philosophy that “learning through experience is the deepest form of learning.” Instead of learning just to take exams, students were encouraged to learn to understand, to explore, and to apply. “I liked the ‘Shoot to Score’ station the most because I enjoy both soccer and math. I had to calculate fast and then shoot the ball into the right answer – it was thrilling and fun!” enthusiastically shared Vu Hoang Hai.
The vibrant atmosphere at the academic stations reflected a spirit of active learning – a place where every student was challenged, encouraged, and recognized. The greatest value of the festival lay not just in the well-designed games, but in students’ confidence to express themselves, their effective collaboration, and their growing love for mathematics in the most natural way.
Organizing such an academic festival was not merely a way to relax after exam season, but also created a positive transition period – preparing students to engage in higher-order thinking as they move toward the new school year after the summer break.
“Our students were proactive and creative in approaching the challenges. Many even used English to think and respond with impressive speed,” said Ms. Candice Robinson, International Primary Program Coordinator.
Math Festival 2025 has come to a close, but it will surely remain a memorable milestone in the growth journey of all VASers. When math becomes a game – and the game sparks thinking – that is when learning truly touches emotions.
See you again at Math Festival 2026 – with new conquests, more creativity, bigger surprises… and even more fun!
