VASers Take the Lead – Confidently Hosting the Seminar "Vietnam–US Relations: Milestones and Opportunities for the Youth"

28/04/2025

For the first time, a specialized seminar was hosted entirely by high school students from Vietnam-Australia School, Hanoi, conducted fully in English. The event offered a comprehensive perspective on Vietnam–US relations and highlighted the wide range of opportunities available to the Gen Z generation in the era of globalization.

As part of the series of events celebrating the 50th anniversary of Vietnam’s Reunification, Vietnam-Australia School, Hanoi (VAS Hanoi) recently hosted an academic seminar titled "Vietnam – US Relations: Milestones and Opportunities for the Youth." With its professional organization and engaging format, the seminar provided VASers with valuable academic experiences while offering an opportunity to showcase their critical thinking, public speaking, and global integration skills.

An Open Dialogue – Inspiring Global Mindsets

Through open and thought-provoking discussions, guest speakers guided VASers to explore three key topics:

  • Vietnam–US Educational Cooperation: Opportunities for Youth;
  • Vietnamese Youth in the Global Labor Market;
  • Vietnam–US Cultural Exchange: Understanding for Future Collaboration.

The seminar offered a vivid picture of the future, emphasizing that global integration is no longer just a trend but a necessity.

Ms. Bui Thi Viet Lam, Country Representative of the US-ASEAN Business Council, shared candidly: "US businesses are seeking young Vietnamese talents who possess critical thinking, global competencies, and adaptability. This is a golden opportunity for those who are well-prepared."

Meanwhile, Ms. Daphne Marie, an American educator who has lived and taught in Vietnam for over 15 years, emphasized: "Learn to listen and appreciate local cultures – it is the foundation for stepping into the world with understanding and respect."

These practical pieces of advice motivated VASers to realize that becoming global citizens starts with diligent learning, skill development, and preserving cultural identity.

VASers Shine with Confidence – Leading the Seminar 100% in English

A highlight of the seminar was the outstanding performance of two Grade 12 students – Tran Khanh Huyen and Nguyen Cong Minh – who confidently led the entire event in English. Their fluent communication, professional demeanor, intelligent questioning, and dynamic interactions with guest speakers impressed the audience and underscored the students’ readiness for global platforms.

The professionalism they demonstrated – from coordinating the flow of discussions to handling unexpected situations – transformed the seminar into a true stage where students could practice and prepare for even greater academic journeys ahead.

A World-Class Learning Environment – Nurturing Global Citizens

The success of the seminar reflects the results of VAS Hanoi’s comprehensive educational approach, which combines the national curriculum with the international Cambridge program.
With a dynamic, multicultural learning environment and a focus on developing 21st-century skills such as critical thinking, creativity, communication, and global collaboration, VAS Hanoi provides students with the tools they need to thrive internationally.

Through meaningful academic experiences like the "Vietnam–US Relations: Milestones and Opportunities for the Youth" seminar, VAS Hanoi not only equips students with strong academic knowledge and language proficiency but also encourages them to build resilience, global readiness, and aspirations to reach new heights.

By continually creating enriching educational opportunities that bridge theory and practice, VAS Hanoi is fulfilling its mission of nurturing a new generation of Vietnamese youth who are ready to integrate globally while remaining deeply rooted in their cultural values.
