Global Perspectives

Global Perspectives is a unique, transformative program that helps to develop students ' thinking skills, teaching them how to research and analyze different perspectives and communicate ideas clearly. The goal of the subject is NOT to guide students to think alike, but to encourage open-mindedness towards the complexity of the world and human thinking, and to promote empathy through diverse experiences.

Students are exposed to global issues and learn to proactively seek solutions to those issues through group activities. With a course designed like a real university (written exams, projects, presentations), students will be trained in critical thinking and analytical skills on global issues from multiple perspectives.

At Hanoi Vietnam-Australia School, students become familiar with the subject from primary school, spanning from Cambridge Primary to Cambridge Upper Secondary - IGCSE. At each level, teachers will design lessons based on the curriculum that are appropriate for the students ' cognitive development stage.

Business Studies

The subject includes many business scenarios in the form of research, role-playing and discussions, helping students become familiar with issues they may encounter in business organizations. At the same time, the subject provides students with opportunities to develop effective communication skills through practicing writing business communication texts such as letters, emails, and short reports. All of these are very useful in business as well as preparation for the IELTS exam.

Students not only learn relevant business concepts and terminology, but through the lessons and textbooks, they also enhance their calculation, market research and analysis abilities which are essential skills in preparation for higher education and future careers.

Enterprise

Students are equipped with knowledge about operations within a small business. More interestingly, they have opportunities to practice through enterprise projects. Students enhance their research, analysis, explanation, evaluation and problem-solving skills.

They also have chances to interact and discuss with business owners or those with extensive experience in specific business areas.

The subject provides students with important knowledge and life skills for planning, financial management, human resources organization and communication. It is a quite interesting subject that requires learners to role-play, think, act and make decisions like a real entrepreneur.

Along with Business Studies, Enterprise helps meet the needs of many students who wish to study majors like Business Administration, Marketing... or run their own businesses in the future.

English

The Cambridge IGCSE English program at VASHanoi is implemented with two English subjects as a first language and as a second language, applied according to class levels.

IGCSE English as a First Language is designed for those who have completed the IGCSE English as a Second Language program or have native-level English proficiency. Students develop the ability to communicate clearly, accurately and effectively in speech and writing. They learn to use an extensive vocabulary, correct grammar, spelling and punctuation, develop a personal style, and have an awareness of the audience. At the same time, students are encouraged to read more, following both personal interests and English development needs.

IGCSE English as a Second Language provides learners with opportunities to achieve durable skills and knowledge including: Better communication ability in English; Improved English listening comprehension in daily situations as well as different social interactions and styles; Greater awareness of the nature of language learning and practical language skills; A broader international outlook.

Science

This interesting subject is a combination of 4 subjects: Introductory Science, Biology, Chemistry, Physics. Students learn and practice in the standard laboratories at VAS Hanoi. Around 25% of the time, students do hands-on practice in the labs under thorough preparation by teachers. Thanks to extensive practice (seeing, hearing, doing) in the labs, students find it much easier to understand lessons and grasp scientific issues.

Art & Design

The Cambridge IGCSE Art & Design has been designed to provide a wide range of media and approach options so that students can express personal opinions and schools can capitalize on their professional expertise and interests.

Students are encouraged to express their personality and creative thinking, developing skills in using 2D and 3D design software. The subject helps students gain a clearer awareness of the role of visual arts in culture, society, history, broadening their cultural outlook and experiences.

The extended study areas include: painting and related media; printmaking; 3D design; photography, digital media; applied graphic communication; fashion.
